RUMFORD — Gregory Allen Burgess, 53, died Thursday, July 23, at his residence on Hillside Avenue.
He was born in Rumford, Oct. 20, 1955, the son of Richard “Dick” and Nellie (Milligan) Burgess, and graduated from Rumford High School, Class of 1973.
Greg was employed at the NewPage Mill in Rumford as a machine tender on No. 12 paper machine and had worked there for more than 34 years.
He was a member of the Rumford United Methodist Church; member of the Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, FOE. He was an Eagle Scout, and loved spending time with his family.
He was married in Rumford on June 3, 2005 to the former Donna Lynn Millett, who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include his mother, Nellie Burgess of Rumford; sons, Christopher Burgess and wife, Caryn, of Windham and Aaron Burgess of Rumford; stepchildren, Melissa Lufkin of Peru, Merle Lufkin Jr. and companion, Kylie, of Peru; a grandson, Addison Lufkin of Peru; a sister, Reta Purington and husband, Roland, of Rumford; and many nieces and nephews.
