LEWISTON — Irene L. Bissonnette of the Marshwood Center, Lewiston, died Saturday, July 25, following a long illness.
She was born Lumina Irene Gagne to Aurele F. Gagne and Elmyra Hall on Nov. 28, 1924, in Berlin, N.H.
She married the love of her life, Arthur N. Bissonnette, on Nov. 28, 1941. Subsequent to his tragic death on Nov. 3, 1959, she continued to raise her family. In later years, she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as a health care aide and supply clerk. She retired in 1988.
She was a courageous woman, loving wife, dedicated mother, adoring grandmother and loyal sister.
She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Cosgrove of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Alfred Bissonnette of Lewiston; three sons, Arthur L. and Donna (McCann) Bissonnette of Bucksport, Richard R. and Deborah (Begin) Bissonnette of Auburn, and Donald N. and Bonnie (Clark) Bissonnette of Waterville; one daughter, Suzanne and husband, Peter J. Csoros, of Minot; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Arthur, she was predeceased by a daughter, Constance C. Bissonnette; her siblings, Ida Cloutier, Edward Gagne, Olive Cloutier and Stephen Gagne;, and a sister-in-law, Carmen Bissonnette.
