Joanne W. Huff
1933 – 2009

FARMINGTON — Joanne W. Huff, 76, formerly of Strong, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 23, surrounded by her friends and family at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center, Lower Main Street, Farmington, where she had been a resident for several years.

She was born on Jan. 12, 1933, in The Forks, the daughter of Linwood and Pauline (Pollard) Wallace. She was educated in the schools of Strong and was employed at Forsters. She later enjoyed many joyful years cleaning condos at Sugarloaf.

Before her declining health, Joanne would sit at her sewing machine or kitchen table for countless hours working her magic on some new crafty project. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, cooking, board games and spending time with her family and dancing the night away at Smitty’s.

In August 1953, she married Vernon Voter and had three daughters: Cheryl, Nancy and Polly. In 1962, she married Richard (Dick) Huff and had one daughter, Victoria. Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and give their sincere gratitude to the residents and staff at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center. The family and friends that she made while residing there meant the world to her and to her family. They would also like to extend their thanks and appreciation to her former home health nurse aid and dear friend, Barbara Gardiner.

Joanne will be forever loved and missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Simmons and her husband, Michael, of New Sharon, Polly Ross of Farmington and Victoria “Betty” White and her husband, Michael, of Salem; seven grandchildren, Alan “Skip,” Jaimie, Seth, Tori, Eric, Ami and Trish and five great-granddaughters, Nicole, Madison, Payton, Victoria and Logan.

She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Richard, who died in 1996; her courageous daughter, Cheryl Hinckley, who died in 2003; and her brother, Robert Wallace.
