LEBANON (AP) – A Maine rescue department volunteer narrowly avoided serious injuries when a large truck slid over him during a “Go Deep Mud” contest.
The driver lost control of her Chevy “monster truck” when the throttle became stuck on Sunday.

Cole says the truck struck the EMT on the side of the mud course and knocked him flat on his back. The EMT sank into the mud on his back so only his face was showing – deep enough to escape being struck by the truck chassis as the 35-inch tires passed on either side of him.

When the throttle came unstuck and the truck came to a stop, the EMT was able to crawl out on his own and walk to an ambulance. He was treated and released from a hospital.
