James E. Paul
1944 – 2009
LEWISTON — James E. Paul, 64, of 1 Kevin St. in Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 29, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with his family at his side.
He was born in Montclair, N.J., Dec. 20, 1944, a son of the late Charles and Frances Paul. He attained his master’s degree in business from the University of Maine at Orono. He was a veteran of the military, having served in the Army until his honorable discharge.
As a resident of this community since 1978, he was a longtime businessman and most recently worked more than 10 years at the Lewiston Middle School as a special education teacher.
He was an active member of Holy Cross Church and had served the church community in recent years as a eucharistic minister, lector and as a counselor for engaged couples. He was also member of the Holy Cross Knights of Columbus and Holy Cross Seniors. Among his favorite enjoyments were fishing and any type of handyman work, helping out anyone who needed him.
He leaves his wife, Simonne (Laplante) Paul of Lewiston; three daughters, Marta Czarnezki of Soldotna, Alaska, Hilary Paul of Zurich, Switzerland, and Michele Stelling of Wilton, N.H.; a son, Steve Webber and wife, Gertraud, of Springvale; four grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Ella and Sebastien; a sister, Frances Mistina and husband, Robert of Longwood, Fla.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many friends.
