AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) – Gov. John Baldacci has declared August to be Maine Lobster Month.

In signing the proclamation, the governor said Maine Lobster Month is a time for people to celebrate the state’s signature seafood and its many contributions to Maine.

During the month, retailers and restaurants will have special offers and radio ads will air reminding consumers about lobsters.

Meanwhile, the Maine Lobster Festival continues Thursday in Rockland, where it will run through Sunday.
