Jean C. Howard
1939 – 2009
FARMINGTON — Jean C. Howard, 70, of 117 Holly Road of Farmington, died unexpectedly July 27, at her home.
She was born on March 12, 1939 at Sisters Hospital in Waterville, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Taylor) Smedberg.
She moved with her family to Wilton from Waterville when she was nine years old. She attended schools in Wilton and graduated from Wilton Academy, Class of 1957 being salutatorian of her class. She worked in various employments during her life, but most recently worked for TD Bank North at the Farmington Branch.
She retired just this past May after 15 years of service.
On Jan. 3, 1959, she married Ivan Howard Jr. at the Henderson Memorial Baptist church in Farmington. This past January, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with family and friends.
She was a very loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, friend and neighbor. She would do anything she could to help anyone in need. She had a great love for her church and served as collector for 18 years.
She enjoyed gardening plants and flowers, watching Red Sox games on TV with her husband and sons, collecting salt and pepper shakers. She loved her cats Fifi and Tigger. One of her favorite things to do was to bake for her family and friends. Most recently she attended her retirement cruise to Cabbage Island with her bank co workers. This was an exceptional fun day for her.
She is survived by her husband, Ivan Howard Jr. of Farmington; three sons, Kurt Howard and girlfriend, Laurie, of Lewiston, Brent Howard and wife, Kathy, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Aaron Howard of Farmington; two sisters, Roberta Quirron and husband, Robert, of Winslow and Brenda Fuller and husband, Rodney of Albion; a brother, David Smedberg and wife, Carol, of Winthrop; a sister-in-law, Shelba J. Howard of Lady Lake, Fla.; and brother-in-law, Denis Howard and wife, Linda, of Belfast.
She was predeceased by her parents.
