Mariners 7, Rangers 2

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 622nd career home run and Felix Hernandez pitched seven solid innings to lead the Mariners over the Rangers.

Griffey’s three-run shot in the first came off Rangers starter Tommy Hunter, the 400th different pitcher he has homered off in his career.

Hernandez (12-4) bounced back from his worst effort of the season to win for the fourth time in five starts. The right-hander gave up two runs and six hits as Seattle won for the third time in nine games.

Hunter (3-2) came into the game having gone 3-0 with a 1.11 in his last four outings. The rookie allowed five runs and eight hits in five innings to lose for the first time since June 28.

Tigers 4, Indians 3

CLEVELAND — Ryan Raburn singled in the go-ahead run in the 12th inning and finished with three hits, leading the Tigers over the Indians.

Jose Veras (4-2) walked Placido Polanco and Clete Thomas to open the 12th before striking out Miguel Cabrera and getting Carlos Guillen to foul out to third. Raburn, who came in batting .167 in his last 13 games, lined a 1-1 pitch to right, scoring Polanco. Veras then balked home Thomas to make it 4-2.

Bobby Seay (2-2) worked a scoreless 11th for the win and Zach Miner gave up a run in the 12th before finishing for his first career save.
Angels 11, Twins 6

MINNEAPOLIS — Kendry Morales, Maicer Izturis and Juan Rivera each homered in the sixth inning and Joe Saunders won for the first time in more than a month to help the Angels beat the Twins.

The rout spoiled the Minnesota debut of Orlando Cabrera, who went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored a day after being traded from Oakland to shore up the Twins’ infield.

Cabrera received a loud ovation during player introductions and his first at-bat. But it was an otherwise quiet night for the Twins as the Angels had 18 hits a night after getting a season-high 19.

Saunders (9-6) worked six innings, allowing nine hits and four runs. His previous win came June 24 against Colorado.
