RUMFORD — The walls of the River
Valley Technology Center are adorned with artwork from the
Pennacook Art Group.

This is the first time the group has displayed members’ pieces in about a year, and
show organizer and artist June Dragoon is impressed with the venue.

“This helps them by more people
coming into the center, and it helps us by providing a place to
display our works,” the Peru artist said.

An open house to
give art lovers a chance to meet the creators and see how pieces are done is set from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. There will be
appetizers and perhaps a performance by area musicians.

Jim Rinaldo, a member of the River
Valley Technology Center board, presented the idea to create a
partnership between the tech center and the arts community.

“This will generate a lot of
activity,” he said.

The tech center will receive a 20
percent commission on sales.

Dragoon said the site provides another
way for area artists to show their works. Some sell online, while
others, like herself, sell most of their work through shows.

The walls of the corridor are lined
with watercolors, acrylics, oils and photos of animals and nature
created by a half-dozen or so local artists. By the open house, Dragoon said several more artists are expected to have their
works on display. Besides the corridor, art will hang in the
brick-walled lobby.

“A lot of people come to the dental
clinic,” said Rinaldo, so many people will have a chance to see the
works. Community Dental is one of the tenants in the tech center.

Dragoon, who has been painting for
about 35 years, said she likes the chance to connect with people
through her artwork.

Some of the works will change every few
weeks.

The Pennacook Art Group meets regularly
at the home of Betsy Bell in Mexico. Dragoon said the group is always
looking for new members and for ideas on how the group can present
itself to make art shows more interesting.

“These artworks add life to the
place,” she said.

Anyone interested in becoming involved
with the Pennacook Art Group may call Dragoon at 562-4510, or one of
the other organizers of the show, Chris Wing at 364-3653 or Carole
Rickards at 562-8627.

The paintings and photographs may be
viewed during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
