AUBURN — Dr. James Vincent Ivor O’Sullivan, 81, of Auburn, died Aug. 2 at the Hospice House.

James was born on July 18, 1928, in Dublin, Ireland, the son of Kathleen and Dr. Michael O’ Sullivan.

James attended Belvedere Jesuits and medical school at University College, Dublin. James moved to the U.S. in 1954 and trained at the Lahey Clinic in Boston, Mass., for a year. He served four years in the U. S. Navy as a physician. Upon discharge, he trained at the Boston V.A. Hospital, where he did his surgical residency, followed by a year at Cambridge City Hospital.

James was married in 1962 to Suzanne Jenner, and in 1963 they moved to Maine and set up a private practice in Lewiston for 44 years (CMMC affiliate).

He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne; five adopted children, Seamus, Patricia, Brian, Zoey and Jessie; and grandchildren, Abby and Dmitri.
