Jade Schidzig, 6, back, and Madison Lyons, 2, pet Beny the Auburn police dog handled by Cpl. Kris Bouchard during the National Night Out at Festival Plaza on Tuesday. Hundreds of Auburn residents turned out for the block party held by the Auburn Police Department. It featured food, music, an inflatable obstacle course, rock climbing, among other things. “It takes an entire community to push back the darkness of crime. It’s an opportunity for all of us to shine our light into our neighborhoods and to leave a lasting legacy,” Auburn police Chief Phil Crowell said.
