RUMFORD — The doctors of Central Maine Gastroenterology will again be performing colonoscopies and endoscopies at Rumford Hospital at the end of August. For several years, Central Maine Gastroenterology did not have enough physicians in the practice to come to Rumford on a regular basis, but now patients can be treated in the new, expanded surgical suite right in Rumford.

Doctors Philip O’Connor, John Lewandowski and Michael Sivulich had been coming to Rumford Hospital on a regular basis until their schedules no longer permitted their travel.

O’Connor, a graduate of St. Louis University’s school of medicine, served his residency in internal medicine at Albany Medical Hospital in Albany, N.Y. He is certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Lewandowski graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. He was a resident at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire and is certified in gastroenterology.

Sivulich earned his medical degree at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and served his residency at the University of Pittsburgh-affiliated Western Pennsylvania Hospital. He is also certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology.

Joining these physicians in rotations through Rumford Hospital day surgery will be Doctors Oswaldo Bisbal and Mark Branda.

Bisbal earned his medical degree at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru, and served his residency in internal medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Science Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine.

A graduate of the University of Vermont medical school, Branda completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

To make an appointment with the gastroenterologists, a patient must call Central Maine Gastroenterology’s main office at 784-5784 upon referral from a primary care provider.
