FRYEBURG — A 24-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he was accused of firing a BB gun at people along the Saco River.

Gregory S. Kelleher, of Marshfield, Mass., was charged with reckless conduct and assault.

According to administrative assistant Ann Perante at the Fryeburg Police Department, Kelleher and another person were in a canoe on the river. A 29-year-old woman who passed the canoe in another boat was struck in the abdomen by a BB and suffered a welt. Perante said a canoe was also hit.

Kelleher was arrested by an officer patrolling the river and taken to the Oxford County Jail, where he had made $500 bail by Monday afternoon.
