Grange meeting

POLAND — Excelsior Grange will meet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at 446 Harris Hill Rd. James Owens, master of the Maine State Grange, will attend the meeting and will award certificates to several members who have been in the order for many years. The Grange scholarship recipient will also be introduced. This will be an open meeting and members and nonmembers are invited to attend.

Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting.

Course registration

AUBURN — Auburn Adult and Community Education is taking applications for the high school diploma program, GED and various enrichment courses.
Walk-in registration will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17 to 27. Some
examples of courses are Intro to Home Electricity, Computer Applications, Zumba,
Cardio Fitness, German for Beginners, Self Defense as well as the state
CNA course.

Register by calling 784-9220 from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., visit the
office at 77 Harris St. or by mail. A full list of
offerings is available at auburn.maineadulted.org. Classes start as early
as Aug. 31.

GPS workshop

LISBON — Registrations for the beginner and advanced GPS
classes sponsored by the Maine Forest Service and the Androscoggin Valley Soil and
Water Conservation District are required by Friday, Aug. 21. The workshops will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, at Beaver Park on Cotton Road.

GPS basics will be taught from 9 a.m. to noon and the advanced GPS
session will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $10 for one session or $15 for both
sessions. GPS units will be provided for the day and participants
should not bring their own units.
