Soundbender, a four-piece band based in Bangor that describes its music as rock out of the box, will perform from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, opening night of the Great Falls Balloon Festival, in Auburn’s Festival Plaza. Formed in 2000, the group has shared the bill with such rock acts as Non Point, Power Man 5000 and Adema. "We love to play on stage. It’s living in the moment, expressing ourselves, connecting with people. It’s all about the song. Music is our passion, our life," said Jesse Thulin, lead vocals and guitars. Other band members are Drew Gladu, guitar, vocals; John Gladu, drums; and Jordan Gaduary, bass. For details on other musical groups performing during the weekend festival, check out the Great Falls Balloon Festival tab in this Sunday’s paper.
