Dear Sun Spots: I work for a company that produces a lot of office
waste paper. I would like to urge them to recycle, but being a small
company, I think they are concerned about the cost. I have heard that
there are some companies that buy recyclable waste paper. I would like
to know if anyone knows of any waste management companies that buy
clean recyclable office waste paper. Thank you so much. — No Name, No
Town.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, contact ReHarvest, 66 Milliken St., Portland, 797-7997 for assistance with implementing a recycling program. We spoke with Rit at ReHarvest about your situation and he’d be happy to help assess your needs. Whether or not the paper can be purchased depends on the amount of waste paper your company is producing. If there isn’t enough to purchase, they can send someone to pick up the paper for a fee.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for gently used costumes for adults and
children in the Oxford Hills area. Check your closets, attics and
basements for old Halloween costumes (no plastics), handmade costumes
or dance recital costumes. Recycle, recycle, recycle!

We will be holding a costume swap in the fall. All costumes will be
cleaned and repaired if needed. Also, looking for a standing clothes
rack. For more information, call 743-8192. — No Name, Norway.

Dear Sun Spots: Great column! I am trying to find a store that sells
Escada perfume. I am also trying to find a hair salon that can show
you what you would look like with different hairstyles. — No Name, No
Town.

Answer: We suggest visiting the Glamour US kiosk in the Auburn Mall. They have a selection of Escada fragrances for you to choose from, for both men and women. The kiosk is located near Super Shoes and is open regular mall hours: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

We aren’t aware of any local salons that offer the virtual hairstyle service, but there are plenty of Web sites you can use at no charge. Consider visiting www.cosmopolitan.com/style/makeover, hairmixer.com, taaz.com or dailymakeover.com. You may have to register, for free, on the site. Some sites also offer the option of trying on different makeup as well. The best picture to upload of yourself is one where you are looking straight at the camera with your hair pulled back from your face. Have fun!

Dear Sun Spots: I want to send a special thanks to all those wonderful
people who have donated items to the Classy Elegance and Secondhand
Treasure shop. The A.H.C. has supported this in starting and it has
just been growing ever since. We are planning on having our grand
opening on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 32 Riverside Dr., New Auburn, from 10
a.m. to 2 p.m.

We usually have it at the church but now we have a
better place to hold it and we will again this year have fried dough
for $3 and hot dogs, chips and soda for $3.50. I cannot express
enough the joy that you have brought by donating to this cause for
children, elderly and Women at the Well. Again, thank you so much for
your kindness. — Rev. Lyn Hodgdon of the Apostolic Holiness Church.

Dear Sun Spots: Thank you so much for your help with my inquiry on the
Patch. Your column is the first thing I read. I read both books, “They
Change Their Sky” by Michael Connolly and “Hard Times, Hard Men: Maine
and the Irish, 1830-1860,” by James Mundy. Both excellent reading. I
learned an awful lot about the Irish people in America. I got both
books by mail from the Maine State Library for only the return postage.
I hope you keep up the good work you are doing for everyone. — Mary, No
Town.
