Gisela S. Mandy

1927 – 2009

LEWISTON – Gisela Saphie Mandy, lifetime partner and loving soulmate of Ernest Mandy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Aug. 15, from complications of a heart attack.

She was born in Bremerhaven, Germany on Dec. 1, 1927, the daughter of Katherine and Christian Miessner.

She met the love of her life while working as a civilian for the U.S Army in Bremerhaven, Germany shortly after World War ll.

After moving back to America in 1954, they raised their two daughters together.

She was blessed with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy was taking care of her family and seeing them happy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest; two wonderful daughters, Joanne Hazelton and Barbara Mandy; her grandchildren, Stephen, Joseph and Mandy Hazelton, Tim, Jeff, Jessie and Daniel Magoon, children of Barbara; she is also survived by Warren, husband of Joanne;  Kelly, wife of Joe, their three children, Tyler, Maddison and Jackson; and Linsay, wife of Tim; she also leaves behind her brother, Manfred Miessner and his wife, Elizabeth, of Bremerhaven, Germany; also morning are sister-in-law, Julia Mandy and her sons, William, Robert, Donald, John and their spouses; and family friend, Danielle Proulx.

She will be remembered and thought of with joy by all who knew her.
