PARIS — Two people charged in unrelated cases pleaded guilty Monday in Oxford County Superior Court to selling drugs.

Michael W. Holden, 47, of 2 Bog Brook Loop in West Paris.and Cindy L. Estep, 53, of 85 Merry Lane in Otisfield  each entered pleas before Justice William Brodrick.

Holden pleaded guilty to trafficking in heroin and cocaine. The plea dismissed charges of marijuana trafficking, unlawful possession of illegal drugs, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal forfeiture. Holden also admitted the forfeiture of $3,043 in cash and 11 rifles, six shotguns, and three handguns that were found near the drugs.

Holden’s sentence was deferred for two years, during which time he must complete 100 hours of community service and refrain from criminal conduct and alcohol or illegal drug use. If he does, he may plead to three counts of the lesser charge of possession of an illegal drug, serve six months in jail, and pay a $1,200 fine.

According to court documents and the Sun Journal archives, Holden was suspected of picking up heroin from Massachusetts and Lewiston and selling it from his trailer. After a three-month investigation in 2006, police seized over two grams of heroin, recently harvested marijuana, scales, drug paraphernalia, and the weapons and money.

Estep pleaded guilty to trafficking in cocaine, and charges of conspiracy to commit trafficking in cocaine and unlawful possession of Oxycodone were dismissed. Estep also admitted to the forfeiture of $8,625 and four firearms.

In a November search, police found 22 grams of cocaine, scales, guns and cash. Frank A. Damon III, 51, and Bruce E. Dunlap, 36, were also arrested at their Greenwood residences and charged with cocaine trafficking.

Estep’s sentencing date was continued for six months.
