The Jay Police Department sponsored an all-terrain vehicle safety course on Aug. 8 at the Jay Community Building. Police Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier instructed 17 participates. He was assisted by Police Det. Richard Caton and safety coordinator Mike Feeney, Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The Jay Police Department sponsors at least one class a year at no charge. All participants take a written test at the end of the program and those who pass are given a certificate that is registered with the state.
