JAY — Healthy Community Coalition’s Work Healthy! award program recognized Androscoggin Bank, Jay Town Office, Paris Farmers Union, Community Concepts, SAD 36, Maine Department of Transportation Region 3, Hannaford Supermarkets Jay, Verso Paper, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and Turner Publishing for their work on promoting good health for their employees as part of Work Healthy!

The awards were presented at the Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls Chamber meeting recently. The program is focused on encouraging businesses and organizations in Greater Franklin County to support tobacco-free lifestyles, encourage physical activity and promote healthy eating.

Applicants for the program, businesses or organizations, have realized that a healthier workforce is beneficial to all involved. It benefits employees to have their employer promoting health. For the employer, it translates into reduced absenteeism, lower health care costs, improved productivity and healthy, happier employees.
