Elizabeth ‘Betty’ J. Beganny
1920 – 2009
AUBURN — Elizabeth (Betty) J. Beganny, 89, resident of High Street in Lisbon Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Clover Manor after a short stay.
She was born March 13, 1920, in Lisbon Falls, a daughter of Fenton and Minnie (Risska) Tobie. She graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in 1937 and from Bliss Business College. On Feb. 2, 1940, she married Andrew R. Beganny. He died April 15, 1985.
She had worked in the offices of the former Androscoggin Mill and Worombo Mill. She also worked for the Lisbon School Department as a bus driver. She was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish. She had been a member of St. Francis Xavier Circle of Daughters of Isabella and also Lisbon Senior Citizens.
Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword and word find puzzles. An avid sports enthusiast, she always enjoyed watching her Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
She is survived by two daughters, Andrea Antman and husband, Sherwood, of Tonawanda, N.Y., and Joyce Lamphere and husband, Norman, of Lisbon Falls; one son, Barry Beganny and wife, Margie of North Falmouth, Mass.; one sister, Marilyn Hayes of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; eight grandsons, Jason, Ryan and Nicholas Lamphere, David, Rick and Steve Antman, Michael and Andrew Beganny; and six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Gabe, Jack, Brady, Ava and Colin.
