LEWISTON — A guided bird walk led by the Stanton Bird Club will be held at the Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

The walk will be led by Stan and Joan DeOrsey, who will identify and comment on birds seen or heard. Susan Hayward, Stanton naturalist, will share her knowledge of plants. All field trips are free and open to the public.

At this time of year, walkers can expect to see woodland species such as warblers, sparrows, chickadees and woodpeckers. In the meadows, participants may see the resident bluebirds and tree swallows.

Those interested should meet at 8 a.m. at the Promenade Mall parking lot in front of Staples, 855 Lisbon St. The group will be at the walk site at approximately 8:20 a.m. Walks will end by 11 a.m., but participants may leave early. If it is raining at 7 a.m., and predicted to continue through 10, the walk will be cancelled.
