LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Salvation Army has announced the appointment of Lieutenants Jason and Jennifer Brake as officers for the Lewiston-Auburn Salvation Army Corps. The Brakes will replace outgoing officers, Majors Richard and Kathleen Lyle who transferred to the Beaver Falls, Penn., Salvation Army Corps.

The Brake’s will lead the church’s weekly worship services at 11 a.m. Sundays. Sunday School will begin at 9:45 a.m. Services are open to the public and the community is encouraged to participate.

Prior to their appointment, they recently graduated from The Salvation Army School for Officer Training in Suffern, NY, where they were commissioned and ordained as Lieutenants in The Salvation Army. Jason is originally from Stow, Ohio, and Jennifer is originally from Barre, Vt. They have two sons who will be attending Farwell Elementary School.

The Lewiston-Auburn corps offers general assistance and various other
social service programs for the local community including a feeding
program three times a week for lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
off the canteen truck by Kennedy Park or at Trinity Church if there is
inclement weather.

The efforts help serve the primary commitment of The Salvation Army,
which is to help meet the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of
all people. The Brakes would like to be able to do this program in their own building, but the kitchen and gym are in disrepair and need
to be renovated. Donations to help with renovations may be mailed to
The Salvation Army, 67 Park St., Lewiston, ME, 04240. More information can be found at www.salvationarmy.org.
