LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen voted Monday to buy two police cruisers from a local dealership.
Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said the 2006 Ford Explorer and a 2010
Ford Crown Victoria from Bailey Bros. Ford met the specifications. The sport utility vehicle has 25,000 miles on it and costs $16,289. It’s being paid for with a $12,565 federal Justice Assistance Grant and donations to the Police Department.
The 2010 Crown Vic costs $20,449.95 after a $3,200 trade-in and will be paid for from the police budget. It will be delivered in six to eight weeks, Town Manager Jim Chaousis said.
Quirk Ford of Augusta offered a 2008 Ford Explorer for $16,289, and O’Connor of Augusta offered a 2009 Chevrolet Trail Blazer for $19,612. Quirk offered a 2009 Chevrolet Impala for $20,100 after trade-in, he said. Franklin Chrysler of Farmington sent a letter saying it would not submit a bid.
Selectman Bill Demaray, who works for Bailey Bros. Ford, recused himself from the votes on both vehicles, Chaousis said.
