Dan Andrew McNeil
1971 – 2009
SURPRISE, Ariz. — Dan passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 18.
He was born in Rome, N.Y., on April 13, 1971, to Gail (Libby McNeil) Theberge of Turner and Paul John McNeil II of Seattle, Wash.
He graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1989. He was in the U.S. Coast Guard and then learned the locksmith trade working in Washington, D.C., and later in Phoenix, Ariz. In 1993, he married Nina Ceplikas. They later divorced.
He loved his children with all his heart and treasured the time he spent with them above all else. He enjoyed being a member to the Vietnam Vets/Legacy Vets MC. He enjoyed riding his Harley “Hog” in the hills of Arizona with his buddies. The Motorcycle Club honored him, as did his friends at “The Alley,” before his brother, Chris, and cousin, Kevin, prepared to faithfully bring Dan’s remains home.
He was kind and loving to all he met and had a large network of friends and relatives.
Whatever he chose to do, he did extremely well. He recently joined Facebook and enjoyed corresponding with friends, old and new. His sense of humor was amazing.
Surviving him are his two cherished children, Joshua, 11, and Samantha, 9; his parents, Gail (Libby McNeil) Theberge and Paul McNeil; his wife, Christie; his beloved brother, Christopher; step-siblings, Russell, Doreen, Joline of Lewiston and Troy, Sam and Natalie of Washington, and their families; his grandmothers, Grace Libby of Auburn and Lynn McNeil of Ashland, Mass.; his godparents, Marilyn Drisko of Massachusetts; and Wayne “Scottie” Libby of Florida; along with numerous uncles and aunts, cousins and friends on both coasts.
He was predeceased by his “dad,”, Harold Theberge; his grandfathers, Ralph Libby and Paul McNeil; and a cousin, Denise.
He will be missed beyond imagination and will remain in our hearts always. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
