Rita M. Martin
1931 – 2009
AUBURN — Rita M. Martin, 78, of 57 Summit Ave., Lewiston, died Monday, Aug. 17, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, surrounded by her family and after a long illness.
She was born in Auburn, Feb. 1, 1931, the daughter of Armand and Yvette Leclair Boisvert. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of 1949.
On May 30, 1952, she married Donald L. Martin. A member of Holy Cross Church, she was an avid bingo player, enjoyed card parties with her special friends, enjoyed traveling and going to casinos, and especially enjoyed time spent with her family, including cooking, indoor and outdoor sports and games, knitting, crocheting, and miniature golf.
Besides her loving husband of 57 years, Donald Martin of Lewiston, she is survived by two sons, Joseph and companion, Tabetha Brann, of Lewiston and Raymond and wife, Kimberly, of Augusta; four daughters, Diane and husband, Charles Charpentier, of Rochester, N.H., Denise Martin and companion, Cindy Varrell, of Poland, Anne-Marie Parent and companion, Donald Lajaret, of Leeds and Irene and husband, Hunter Peaslee, of Somerville; a sister, Stella and husband, Val Asselin, of Lewiston; 15 grandchildren, Gerald Jr., Kevin, Katie, Cory, Jamie-Lynn, Kamie, Nicholas, Kayla, Ashley, Michael, Matthew, Hunter Jr., Candise, Joshua and Abigail; and five great-grandchildren, Morgan, Gerald III, Allyson, Hailey and Kayden.
She was predeceased by her parents.
The family would like to thank the Hospice House in Auburn for the exceptional and compassionate care given to Mrs. Martin during her final illness.
