Edward L. Haley Sr.
1913 – 2009
AUBURN — Edward L. Haley Sr. of 12 Sandy Way, Minot died Friday, Aug. 21, at Clover Manor, where he resided for the past two years.
He was born in Richmond, March 30, 1913, a son of Jesse and Eva Noyes Haley. He graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1930. He worked many jobs during his time and made candy at Seavey’s. He was also a machinist and made radar parts used during World War II. He also owned a gas station with his brother, Carl, sold insurance, auto parts and Raleigh Products, and finished with Rochester germicide.
He enjoyed pitching horseshoes, his vegetable garden and building the hunting camp in Industry. He got the most pleasure watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, the former Mary Frazer, whom he married Aug. 29, 1936; son, Edward Haley Jr. and wife, Donna, of Minot; grandson, Bruce Haley and wife, Sandra; great-granddaughter, Catherine, granddaughter, Sheila Fennessy and husband, Scott and great-grandson, Keegan, all of Minot; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
A special thanks to the caregivers at Clover Manor, especially those in Res. Care A, and his special friend, Henry. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
