Hot, sunny weather apparently provided optimum conditions for holes-in-one over the last week, with three aces registered at local golf courses.
Gloria Gray, 68, collected her first hole-in-one and the first ever by a female golfer at Hebron Pines. Gray aced the 124-yard first hole with a 1-wood. Ethan Whittemore witnessed the shot.
Mike Mansir of Readfield dropped in his first career ace at The Meadows Golf Club in Litchfield. Mansir used a 3-wood to cover the 155-yard No. 3. Martha Mansir was Mike’s playing partner.
Leon Levesque of Lewiston celebrated a hole-in-one for the second time, achieving the feat on the 158-yard second hole at Springbrook Golf Club in Leeds. Levesque played a 5-iron. Bobby Murray, Mike Nadeau and Gerry Pleau were spectators.

Sweet wins New England Juniors
WELLS – Seth Sweet, the 15-year-old golfer from Lakewood Country Club in Madison, bested a field of 41 other golfers to win the New England Junior Invitational individual title Tuesday by shooting a final-round total of 71 for a 54-hole total of 222. He won the event at Old Marsh Country Club by five shots over last year’s champion Evan Russell of Vermont. In the team championship, New Hampshire edged out Vermont, with Maine finishing third.
