Gospel music

AUBURN — Bob Puffer, former country recording artist, and his wife, Darleen,
will appear at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at the Marston’s Corner Baptist
Church, corner of Hotel and Beech Hill roads. The Puffers
perform gospel music in a nationwide music ministry. They offer a
varied presentation for all ages.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 18 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Claire Lyons and Marta Clements; second, Roger Labbe and Nancy Lindgren; third, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the center.

The club also met on Aug. 19 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Mike and Patricia Quinn; second, Leslie Buzzell and John Hackett; third, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin. Another game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed at both games. For further information, call Lucille Theriault at 783-0431.

St. Ann Sodality

LEWISTON — The Ladies of St. Ann Sodality of Holy Family will
begin their 84th year
of church, family and community service on Wednesday, Sep. 16, at the
Holy Family Church Hall. A potluck supper will be served at 6 p.m.
Doors will open at 5:30. Tickets are $7 and may be purchased by
calling Yvette 782-3722 or Claudette at 784-4391. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

The meeting will begin at 7 and there will be installation of officers, councilors and new members. Those interested in
joining the group may attend. Anyone from the Peace of Peace Parishes are
welcome to join.

Life chain

LEWISTON — A Lewiston-Auburn Life Chain will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, when pro-lifers will line the sidewalks along both sides of the Longley Bridge and pray for an end to abortion as they hold pro-life sign.

Every year hundreds of cities and towns across the U.S. and Canada send the Life Chain message, and this will be Lewiston-Auburn’s 16th annual event.

All are invited to join rain-or-shine pro-life event. Children under close supervision are welcome and chairs may be brought for the elderly or handicapped. Those attending should gather at Great Falls Plaza next to the Auburn Post Office at 2 p.m. to pick up a poster. For more information, call 782-7721.
