DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine (AP) – A Dover-Foxcroft man is facing charges he was selling live, wild trout he had taken from waters near his home.

Thirty-eight-year-old Mark Cox is facing a misdemeanor charge of illegal possession of wild brook trout. He’s due in court later this year.

The Bangor Daily News says Cox reportedly was selling both live and dead fish to private individuals. He could face up to six months in jail.

Capt. Dan Scott of the Maine Department of Fish and Wildlife says agents placed Cox under surveillance after receiving a complaint through the Operation Game Thief program.

Scott says Cox was using multiple methods of catching the fish.
