GOP to meet
WOODSTOCK — The Oxford County Republican Committee will meet Tuesday, Sept. 8, when special guest speaker will be Peter Mills, 2010 gubernatorial candidate, at Franklin Grange, Main Street. A social hour will be held at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6:30. Cost is $7.50.
Senior College meeting
BETHEL — Western Mountains Senior College will hold its annual meeting
from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Gehring House, 77 Broad St.

Seniors to meet
BETHEL — The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, for a potluck dinner at the Bethel Methodist Church, Main Street. Members will bring a dish to share.
Patriot’s event
NORWAY — The American Legion and VFW auxiliaries will remember those who have died at the monument across from the Norway Legion from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, Patriot’s Day. Those who have a flag are invited to bring it and to wear red, white and blue if possible.
Dance classes set
GREENWOOD — A ballroom dance class will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 15, 22. 29 and Oct. 6 and 13 at the Greenwood Town Hall. Donations of $25 are asked. All proceeds will go to the Bethel Food Bank. For more information, call 665-2788.
Baked bean contest
OXFORD — The Oxford County Fair Museum will hold a “Grandma’s Baked Bean Contest” on Saturday, Sept. 19. The beans should be made from one pound of any dried beans. The recipe must be included on a card and judging will be done by fair-goers.
Each judge will pay a small fee for sampling all of the beans and casting their vote. The top prize will be a $50 supermarket gift card.
Beans should be delivered to the museum between 1 and 2 p.m.. Judging will run from 2 to 4 (or until beans run out). It is best if beans are delivered in a crockpot in order to keep them warm.
