Jesus Party Director Doug Taylor, right, and patriotic mentor Jerry
DerBoghosian, left, will hold a Patriot Day observance at the Jesus
Party headquarters, 291 Bates St., Lewiston, beginning at 6 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 11. The event will commemorate one of the worst tragedies
in American history along with the heroic contributions that took place
on Sept. 11, 2001 when the United States was attacked by terrorists.
Taylor and DerBoghosian will lead those attending in the "Pledge of
Allegiance;" a moment of silence; prayer for the country, it’s military
and it’s leader, President Barack Obama. The congregation will sing
"God Bless America," "It’s A Grand Ol’ Flag," "God Bless the U.S.A."
and the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." All those in attendance will
receive yellow ribbons and plastic Armed Services action figures to
promote prayer for the men and women who are still active in the war
against terrorism. An age appropriate 23- minute film, "Remembering
Sept. 11th" will be shown. Red, white and blue cupcakes will be served.
