TURNER — SAD 52 Adult Education classes will include a new zumba session this fall. Starting Thursday, Sept. 10, zumba routines will feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training combine to tone and sculpt the body while burning fat.

SAD 52 will offer some new classes that are going green. On Saturday, Sept. 12, square foot gardening/companion planting will be held. Participants will learn everything they need to know to produce the same amount of food in 40 square feet as they would in a half-acre garden.

Cleaning green takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Those attending will learn how to make their own laundry detergent and other household cleaners. Bring an empty one-gallon milk bottle to take some home.

A recycled cards class will be held Thursday, Sept. 17. It will turn old assorted greeting cards into useful items. Create new cards, ornaments, gift tags and a petal box. Bring in old printed items such as cards or calendars and a glue gun.

Ballroom dancing for beginners and intermediates will start Monday, Sept. 14. Learn the waltz, fox trot, swing and cha-cha. At the intermediate level, dancers will add new steps to what they have learned.

Piano instruction for students of beginner, primary or intermediate level will start Tuesday, Sept. 15. The course will prepare the student to progress toward a traditional style of playing for self-enjoyment and/or performance. Classes will be held Mondays or Tuesdays.

Signing for fun will begin Sept. 15, demonstrating signs and visual gestures used by the deaf, with time for practice during class.

Basket weaving will be offered in Livermore Falls starting Tuesday, Sept. 15, and in Turner on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Several types of baskets will be completed as attendees learn basic techniques as well as progressive levels of weaving as each week is completed. Take home a basket each week.

Beginning Sept. 16, two tai chi classes will be offered, one for adults and one for teens. The ancient art of wellness provides benefits such as decreased blood pressure, increased flexibility, stress reduction and effective self-defense.
