AUBURN — Nate Blais fired off a shot from 15 yards out and the ball landed in the right-hand corner of the net with three minutes and 52 seconds left in the game, allowing the Red Eddies to win their opener with 3-2 victory over Oxford Hills in a Class A boys’ soccer opener Friday afternoon.

The Vikings took a 2-0 lead when Ben Millett and Brian Lynch each scored in the first half. Ian Therriault cut Oxford Hills’ lead to one when he scored on a Brandon Lever feed with 2:44 left in the first half.

 Jared Pelletier delivered the tying goal at 30:28 in the second half for Edward Little. Red Eddies goalie Ian-Dolen Oliveto made 11 saves.

Messalonskee 2, Mt. Blue 0

FARMINGTON – Chriss Hall scored on a penalty kick to snap a scoreless deadlock in the second half and lift Messalonskee to a 2-0 boys’ soccer victory over Mt. Blue in their KVAC season opener.

Nate Snow rounded out the scoring with an unassisted tally with 17 minutes remaining.

Dylan Eustis made seven saves in goal for Mt. Blue, while Andrew Wilson made nine saves for Messalonskee.

Georges Valley 4, Telstar 1

BETHEL – Ketch Cowin netted a pair of goals as Georges Valley downed Telstar 4-1 in boys’ soccer Friday.

Bryant Matthew and Josh Bedell each added tallies as the Buccaneers jumped out to a 4-0 lead before intermission. Alec Young made two saves in collecting the victory in goal.

Tyler Brown netted Telstar’s goal on a penalty kick. Dan Vaughn made nine saves for the Rebels. 

Oak Hill 7, Leavitt 1

WALES – Bryan and Adam Soucy combined for five goals and four assists to lead Oak Hill to a 7-1 win over Leavitt in KVAC boys’ soccer Friday.

Bryan Soucy booted home three goals and dished out two assists with older brother Adam scored twice and added a pair of assists.

Ben Daggett chipped in with a goal and an assist while Zach Lennett added a goal. Cody Plourde made five saves in goal for the Raiders.

Josh Grandin netted Leavitt’s goal on an assist from Elliot Wiegman. Cooper Legee turned aside 16 shots in a losing effort.

York 5, Poland 0

YORK – Five different players scored a goal as York coasted to a 5-0 blanking over Poland in their season opener in WMC boys’ soccer action.

The Wildcats (1-0) received goals from John Baker, Kevin Bond, Tyler MacFin, Kyle McKenna and John Roche. They scored three in the first half and two in the second half.

Goalie Mike Littlefield got a workout in net for the Knights (0-1), deflecting 16 of 21 shots in the losing effort. Noah Rickerwich picked up the win with six saves for York.
