BRUNSWICK (AP) — A plant in Brunswick that makes lighting fixtures, fuses and other electrical equipment is planning to shut its doors, putting more than 100 people out of work.
WCSH-TV said employees at Cooper Wiring Devices were told last week that their facility will be shut down within a year.
Cooper Wiring Devices is owned by Cooper Industries, which has its administrative headquarters in Houston.
The company blames the shutdown on the continuing global recession, and says the Maine plant will be phased out as its operations are transferred to other plants in the coming year.
