WESTBROOK (AP) — A patient with mental health issues who escaped from a hospital in Westbrook, Maine, and went missing was found by the local police chief.

Police Chief William Baker recruited a pilot and helicopter to search for the 52-year-old woman Wednesday afternoon. She had left Spring Harbor Hospital.

After searching for about an hour Baker and the pilot, a lifelong friend of his, saw the woman lying on the ground in some woods about two miles from the hospital.

Baker told the Portland Press Herald the woman was wet, hypothermic and dehydrated. She was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
