Square dance

SOUTH PARIS — John Thompson of Waterford, square
dance caller for the Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club of South Paris,
will offer a free Square Dance Fun Night at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.
23, for those coming for the first time. The event will be held at the Oxford Hills Middle School cafeteria, Pine Street.

After the free class, the price will be $3 each person to attend a class, held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

Marine meeting

LEWISTON — The Marine Corps League, Central Maine Detachment, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street. Plans will be discussed on the upcoming programs and any members with ideas should attend to discuss them. Members are reminded that Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming up.

Grange meeting

DANVILLE — The installation of officers will be observed at Danville Junction Grange 65 on Thursday, Sept. 24. A 6 p.m. supper will be served prior to the meeting, which will begin at 7. Officers will be installed by Dana and Caroline Coffin and their suite of installing officers. All members and guests are welcome to attend. 

Photo contest

LEWISTON — The deadline for the Great Falls Balloon Festival Photo Contest is at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28. Entries can be dropped off at the Lewiston Sun Journal, 104 Park St., or at Photo Finish located in the Auburn Mall. Matte packages are available at Photo Finish for easy entry. Entries may also be sent via USPS to Balloon Photo Contest, c/o Sun Journal, P.O. Box 4440, Lewiston, ME 04243.

The winner’s reception will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at the Women’s Pavilion at St Mary’s Regional Medical Center. All are welcome to join.  

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge
Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Monday, Sept. 21 were:
first, Cynthia Bonsey and Sue Kaluzynski; second, Lue Bilodeau and Paul
Sherman; third, Dick Allen and Richard Balian; fourth, Roger Labbe and
Larry Fortier; fifth, Jackie Deschene and Marie Jeanne Lesperance.
First in strata B: Cynthia Bonsey and Sue Kaluzynski; second, Roger
Labbe and Larry Fortier.

Games are played at 9 a.m. every week

more information. The quarterly club championship will be held on
Monday, Sept. 28.
