BUCKFIELD – Allie Hammond booted a corner kick directly into the net just one minute into the second overtime to lift Rangeley to a 3-2 victory over Buckfield in a EWC girls’ soccer matchup Tuesday.

Danielle Patrie and Ashley Hamann gave the Bucks (3-3) a 2-0 advantage in the first frame. Emma Christiansen brought the Lakers (5-4-1) to within one with five minutes to play before the break.

Nadia Carter tied the contest for Rangeley with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Hammond played the first half in net for Rangeley and made three saves. Samantha Jones turned aside 12 shots between the posts for Buckfield.

Lisbon 5, Carrabec 2

LISBON – Ashley Beaulieu was a frequent visitor to Carrabec’s net, scoring four goals, as Lisbon bagged the Cobras with a 5-2 victory in a girls’ soccer game Tuesday.

The score was tight through the first half, with the Greyhounds (6-2) taking a 2-1 lead before slipping in three more in the second half. Alexa Harmong scored the other goal for Lisbon. Teammates Kayla Angelico, Brandi-Jo Storman and Amber Cloutier each earned assists.

For the Cobras (1-7), Kara Hebert and Becca Bergeron scored a goal,  and Randi Kaplan earned an assist. Lisbon outshot Carrabec, 24-9. Lisbon goalie Kyrstin Ramich made four saves.

Mt. Blue 2, Skowhegan 0

SKOWHEGAN – Chelsea Thompson scored the eventual game-winning goal in the opening frame as Mt. Blue notched a 2-0 victory over Skowhegan in KVAC girls’ soccer action Tuesday.

McKenzie Thompson recorded both assists for the Cougars (4-3-1), feeding her sister Chelsea in the first half and providing a rebound opportunity for Kelly Yardley in the second half.

 Goalie Sam Gray made seven saves for the Indians (0-8), while goalie Allison Brown turned back two for Mt. Blue in the winning effort.

Morse 1 Edward Little 0

AUBURN – Meagan Hennessey scored with 30 seconds left in the game to lift Morse to a 1-0 victory over Edward Little in KVAC girls’ soccer.

The Eddies and Shipbuilders were even in the shot column, 13-13. The Eddies had four corners to Morse’s three. Kirsten Prue of Edward Little made nine saves while Kate Thibodeau of Morse made five saves.

Morse is now 6-2 and Edward Little is 3-4-1.

Gray-New Gloucester 4, Old Orchard Beach 2

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Alicia Valente led a group of four players to register goals as Gray-New Gloucester huslted to a 4-2 victory over Old Orchard Beach in a WMC girl’s soccer matchup.

Morgan Wilson, Michaela Despins and Taylor Darnell also talied for the Patriots (1-6-0) to complete the scoring. Gray jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first frame and easily held on to win. Taylor Damon made 11 saves in net to record the victory.

Amy Twohig and Anna Foss each scored for Old Orchard (2-6-0), while Foss and Corey Hatch combined for nine saves in the contest.

Field hockey

Messalonskee 4, Lewiston 0

OAKLAND – Katie Eernatchev led a group of four players to register goals as Messalonskee rolled past Lewiston 4-0 in KVAC field hockey action Tuesday.

Maddie Kadnar, Mara Balboni and Bri Warren also tallied for the Eagles (9-1) to complete the scoring. After a scoreless first half, Messalonskee got focused on finding the net. Mickee McCafferty and Lexy Cole needed only onesave to preserve the shutout.

Emily Craig handled goalkeeping duties for the Blue Devils (2-8), turning aside 31 shots in the contest.

Gray-New Gloucester 3, Waynflete 1

GRAY – Kellie Sanborn got things rolling early and Molly Grannell and Breanna Harlow capped the day with a goal each in the second half to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 3-1 win over Waynflete in WMC field hockey action Tuesday.

Laura Hagelin and Katie Hotham notched assists on the second-half goals for the Patriots (5-4-0), who have won more games this season than anyone currently with the team can remember winning in any season in recent memory.

The Flyers’ (2-5-2) lone goal came off the stick of Alda Farell on the team’s lone shot on goal in the contest.

Belfast 2, Leavitt 2

TURNER – The Leavitt and Belfast field hockey squads were sucessful on both the offense and defensive sides of a KVAC matchup Tuesday, yet came away with a 2-2 deadlock after playing through two overtime periods.

Kari Osgood gave the Lions (5-4-1) a 1-0 advantage at 13:49 in the first half with assists from Crystle and Helene Wallace.

Morgan Erskine tied the contest for Leavitt (5-4-1) when she took a pass from Lynn LeBenhop and fired it into the net. Ashland Hall put Belfast up by one with 25 minutes left in regulation. Kylie Vincent sent the game into overtime when she scored just four minutes later.

Paxton Mohney and Emma Hamm combined for eight saves in net for Belfast, while Taylor Eells turned aside six shots between the posts for Leavitt.
