AUBURN — Phil House and Mitch Thomas will have a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Park Street United Methodist Church, to benefit Orre-Ann Alexander’s Mission of Peace trip to India. The concert will include piano music and singing for all ages.

Alexander is one of three youth in New England selected to go on the Mission of Peace 2010 to India, where she will work with religious leaders around Mumbai and learn about their culture as well as work with a local church on their property with some of the people of Mumbai. The Mission of Peace group is a Methodist group that has been traveling all over the world for many years, to places such as Cuba, Nicaragua, Eastern Europe, China, the USSR, South Africa and Brazil.

Alexander is a senior at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. She is a member of the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church, a member of the Youth Council, on summer staff for Camp Mechuwana, the United Methodist camp in Winthrop, and a member of the New England Conference Council for Youth Ministry.

She needs to raise $5,000 for the trip. There will be a free will offering at the concert for those wishing to help support the Mission of Peace. The trip is from Dec. 27 through Jan. 14, and upon her return, she will be speak at various places to share her experience with others.

Those unable to attend the concert who would like to make a donation can do so by making checks payable to Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church and in the note/memo area write Orre-Ann Alexander MOP 2010. Checks can be sent to 579 Plains Rd., Harrison, Maine 04040.
