PARIS — A special selectmen’s meeting has been scheduled for Thursday to discuss hiring a new town manager. The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. at the town office.

The meeting will also include an item seeking to ratify the termination of former town manager Sharon Jackson’s contract, an action selectmen approved in a 3-2 vote on June 22.

Selectman Raymond Glover said he believes the first item will formally start a search process for a new town manager. He  said that in the past, the board has advertised the position, reviewed the applicants, conducted personal interviews, and chosen a candidate.

Glover said the ratification item was added upon advice from the town’s attorney.

Jackson has appealed her termination in Oxford County Superior Court, charging the Board of Selectmen with negligence, defamation, breach of contract, failure of timely payment of wages, and violations of the U.S. Code, U.S. Constitution, and state law.

The lawsuit, which seeks a review of the decision and a declaration that Jackson’s contract remain in effect, charges that Selectman Troy Ripley should not have been seated on the board until July 1.
