LISBON — The American Legion Post 158, 10 Webster Rd., will have a membership appreciation supper at 5 p.m. Friday,
Oct. 9. Following the dinner, comedian Dennis Fogg will perform at
7 p.m. There will be no admission or cover charges. 

Dam commission

SABATTUS — The Sabattus Dam Commission will commence fall drawdown at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11.

Veterans lunch

LEWISTON — The Auburn Exchange Club and the Lewiston Vet Center will sponsor a luncheon for veterans at noon Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Green Ladle, Lewiston High School.

Jim Doherty, staff assistant to the director of the Togus VA, will speak. Attendees will learn about veterans’ services available at Togus, may see the mobile vet center and see a fully restore 1950s era deuce and a half.

Legion meeting

AUBURN — The Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St., will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12. There will be a meal at 6 p.m. for a donation of $3. If attending the supper, contact Adjutant Stanley Brickel at 345-9465. Veterans Day activities will be discussed.  

Nature hikes

NEW GLOUCESTER — The last nature hikes of the season at Sabbathday Lake
Shaker Village, Route 26, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10. The
morning hike will begin at 10 a.m. and the afternoon hike at 1:30 p.m.
The hikes cover the fields and forests of the Shaker Village as well as
the lake and Aurelia’s Cascade. Cost for adults is $5; children, $2;
under 6, free.

Gazebo dedication

NEW GLOUCESTER —
The New Gloucester Public Library has announced the dedication of the
Bob Leighton Memorial Gazebo. The dedication will be at 2 p.m. Sunday,
Oct. 11, at the library, 379 Intervale Rd. Gray-New Gloucester High
School will provide music for the event. Everyone is welcome. For more

Lakeside chapter

WALES — Lakeside Chapter 60, O.E.S., will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct.
13, at the Wales Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Rd. All
members and visiting members are welcome. Past Matrons
and Past Patrons of the chapter and other chapters will be honored. There will be
fellowship and light refreshments after the meeting.

DAR meeting

AUBURN — Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant. Member will order off the menu. The speaker will be Melanie
Farmer of Colonial Daughters Chapter in Farmington. Farmer is State
Organizing Secretary and a direct descendant of John Stockbridge, the
husband of Mary Dillingham. She will present a program about the

Cancer support

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at
Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free breast cancer support
group beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The group will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, at the
Dempsey Center, 10 High Street, Suite 301. Preregistration is required and light refreshments will
be provided. Offered in partnership with the Sam and Jennie Bennett Breast Care
Center at CMMC, the group is open to breast cancer patients and
survivors at any point along their journey from diagnosis to
survivorship.
