Felix O. Pinette
1930 – 2009
TOPSHAM — Felix O. Pinette, 78, of Lewiston Road, Topsham died Tuesday, Oct. 20, with his family by his side after a long illness with lung cancer.
He was born in Topsham, Dec. 28, 1930, one of 11 children to Alphonse and Cecile Beauregard Pinette. From 1951 to 1954, he served in the Army with his twin brother Phillip. They served together in Alaska. On June 19, 1954, he married Lena Laffely.
He started working at the Livernois IGA in 1957 as a meat cutter, then to Cottle’s Supermarket and Shop & Save. He then worked at Bowdoin College for 10 years and after retirement worked part-time at Downeast Energy for 19 years.
He and his wife owned and operated Pinette’s Deer Cutting for 30 years. Hunters from all over the state went to him to have their deer, moose or bear processed. He would often say he had the fastest knife in town. He had a great sense of humor that he maintained throughout his life.
For 18 years, he enjoyed his camp in Byron. He enjoyed his ATV and traveling with his wife Lena. He had visited Alaska twice and traveled across country three times. He enjoyed playing cards and going to casinos.
He was a member of the Topsham Trail Riders and was also a member of St. John’s the Baptist Church.
Surviving besides his wife, Lena, of 55 years, are two daughters, Kathleen Quintal and her husband, Gerry, of West Gardiner and Nancy Pinette and her partner, Connie Pelkey, of Augusta; a son, Paul Pinette and his wife, Jennifer, of Bowdoinham; four grandchildren, Joseph Tourtelotte, Ryan and Emilia Pinette, all of Bowdoinham and Derrick Quintal of West Gardiner; three brothers, Francis Pinette and his wife, Patricia, of Durham and Edgewater, Fla., Alfred Pinette and his wife, Gloris, of Arrowsic and Roland Pinette and his wife, Ursula, of Bowdoinham; three sisters, Lucy Begley of Lewiston, Jeanne Williams of Silverhill, Ala., and Jacqueline Sargent and her husband, George, of Mattawamkeag; a sister-in-law, Louise Pinette St.Pierre of Topsham; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his twin brother, Phillip; his brother, Louis; and his sisters, Rita Doucette and Claire Ducharme.
