MONMOUTH — A Connecticut man was killed and an Auburn man was injured late Friday when the driver of the truck they were riding in lost control on a sharp curve on Route 135 and rolled over on the Jug Stream Bridge at the intersection of Sanborn Road.

J. Allyn Marshall, 25, of Waterford, Conn., was killed when he was ejected from the truck and thrown into Jug Stream. The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department dive team recovered his body about two hours after the crash.

Nathan McNear, 19, of Auburn, suffered nonlife-threatening injuries and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.  

According to Monmouth police, the men were traveling south in a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 around 10 p.m. when the driver lost control on a sharp curve, rolled the truck and hit a cement bridge railing. Marshall was ejected when the truck hit the railing. The truck came to rest on its roof. 

Police on Saturday did not know which man was driving.  

Monmouth police, fire and rescue responded, as did Winthrop police, fire and rescue. Monmouth police are investigating the cause of the crash. Winthrop police are handling the crash reconstruction.
