Sumner “Bucky” Chase

1942-2009

LEWISTON – Sumner “Bucky” Chase Sr., 66, a lifelong resident of New Gloucester, passed away Nov. 12 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

He was born on Dec. 22, 1942, the son of Wayland Chase Sr. and Melba (Jordan) Chase. He was born at a time when large families were not uncommon. He had eleven brothers and sisters.

He graduated from New Gloucester High School with the Class of 1961 and worked in the woods for most of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his two sons, Sumner (Tom) Chase Jr. and wife, Brenda, of New Gloucester, and Wayne Chase and wife, Karen, of Turner; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Tara, Ashley, Dylan, Emily, Abigail, Marissa, Michael; his great-grandson, Joel; and his eight siblings, Dolly, Buddy, Sharon, Ellie, Rusty, Kenny, Amy, and Bonnie.

He was predeceased by his parents; and three siblings, Aleta, Pinky and Bobby.
