Albert G. Chouinard
1935 – 2009

AUBURN — Albert G. Chouinard, 74, of Auburn passed away on Nov. 24, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lewiston, Feb. 8, 1935, the oldest son of Gerard and Emelda Michaud Chouinard. In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served our country for 21 years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. Upon his retirement from the Navy, Al worked for the United States Postal Service from 1973 to 1990, retiring as superintendent of postal operations at the Regional Distribution Center in Auburn.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Knights of Columbus and the Fleet Reserve Association.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane (Lachance) Chouinard of Auburn, with whom he created a loving family; a wonderful father of four children, he leaves three sons and a daughter, Albert and wife, Karyn, of Epsom, N.H., Deborah Chouinard and husband, Gary Enright, of Holyoke, Mass., Thomas and wife, Nancy, of Auburn and Andrew and wife, DeAnna, of Northwood, N.H.; 12 grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle, Crystal, Bryan, Andrea, Daniel, Jessica, Simone, Michael, Sarah, Emily and Grace; three great-grandchildren, Hailey, Hazen and Matthew; a brother, Paul Chouinard and wife, Shirley, of North Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Jeannine Lemelin and Laurie Chouinard of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
