1939 – 2009
DIXFIELD — Carolyn Jean Elliott, 70, of Dixfield died early Friday, Dec. 4, at her home in Dixfield surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 4, 1939, in Rumford, the daughter of William Rainsford and Sybil (Staples) Waterhouse. She was educated in the Dixfield school system.
In 1956, she married William Elliott in Dixfield, where they made their home. Early in her life, she raised four children, then worked at Diamond International in Peru. Her most meaningful work experience was as secretary for the Guidance Office at Dirigo High School.
She loved the arts and getting together with close friends to paint. She enjoyed quilting, was a noted seamstress and great cook. She also enjoyed reading, nature, the company of her dog, Jude and especially her family’s log cabin on Richardson Lake. Her wry sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Bill of Dixfield; children, Maynard “Zeke” Elliott and his wife, Joyce, of Carthage, Elizabeth Friendly and her husband, Thomas, of Charleston, S.C., Jeffrey Elliott of Dixfield and Jennifer Raymond and her husband, Craig, of Turner; grandchildren, Dustin, Kylie, Brandon, and Brianna Elliott, Elijah, Samuel and Emily Miller and Ian Raymond; a brother, William Waterhouse and his wife, Emilee, of California; a sister, Jane Mickeriz and her husband, Mike, of Peru; and a great-grandson, Addison Lufkin.
She was predeceased by a sister, Ann Damazo; and a beloved grandson, Jason Friendly.
