PARIS — A Paris police dispatcher and volunteer firefighter was treated and released from Stephens Memorial Hospital following an early morning accident on his way to work.

Joseph Cormier, 31, of South Paris, lost control of his 2005 Dodge Durango due to icy road conditions, hit an embankment and overturned.

Officer Nathan Bowie of the Paris Police Department said the accident
occurred at about 6 a.m. Sunday morning on High Street, just south of
Elm Hill Road.

Bowie said that when he and fellow police officer Tim Gamache arrived at the scene, Cormier was trapped inside the SUV because the roof had collapsed. The two officers broke a window and pulled Cormier to safety. No charges were filed. Cormier’s SUV was considered a total loss.
