WEST PARIS — The Goodwill Fellowship of the First Universalist Church of West Paris met at the home of Beryl Bonney for the annual Christmas party and to fill the Christmas boxes for members and friends to be remembered at this time of year.

The group met at the church ahead of time and made a centerpiece with a Christmas mug, greens and decorations to go along with the boxes.

Because of fundraising efforts during the year, the fellowship was able to donate $200 to the local project Beth’s House, as well as give the usual donations of money to Christmas for Kids and to Tri Town Ambulance.

They also donated $200 to the Ferry Beach Renovation Fund. The church’s longtime and beloved minister, Eleanor B. Forbes, was active and supportive of the church’s involvement in Ferry Beach in Saco. Forbes was one of the first to buy a room in the Quillen and she spent time there every summer. Several of the Goodwill Fellowship members attend services and activities there on a regular basis.

The group will continue with Christmas activities by participating in the Christmas fair at the Agnes Gray School on Saturday, Dec. 12. At the end of the day, they will draw for the winner of a quilt and half of the proceeds from the quilt will be donated to the West Paris Library to put towards their renovations.

The church will have a Christmas potluck supper at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13,  followed by a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. The candlelight service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, will wrap up their Christmas activities for the year. There will be no service the Sunday after Christmas.
