CANTON — A town plow truck driver was treated Tuesday for injuries sustained when another driver crossed the centerline on Route 140 and struck the truck, police said.
James Dyment, 62, of Canton, was plowing snow at 8 a.m., driving north in
the 1995 Dodge truck when the plow truck collided with a southbound 1996 Dodge pickup truck driven
by Garrick Tibbetts, 26, of Livermore Falls at
the intersection of Route 140 and LaPlante Road, Maine State Police Trooper Kyle Tilsley said.
at on Tuesday morning after state police say another
Dyment is Canton’s Emergency Management Agency director and a lieutenant in the town’s volunteer Fire Department.
Tilsley said Tibbetts’ truck struck the plow and the left front corner of the truck, causing significant damage.
Tibbetts refused treatment at the scene. Dyment was taken to Rumford Hospital as a precautionary measure, Tilsley said. Dyment was treated and released.
The trooper attributed the accident to a slushy road surface and over-driving the road conditions.
Damage to the plow truck was estimated at $7,000 to $8,000; to Tibbetts’ pickup, $3,000 to $4,000.
Traffic on Route 140 was reduced to one lane for slightly more than an hour.
