RUMFORD — Black Mountain has expanded on its Junior Race Program for the 2010 ski season. The new program is geared for students in grade three through high school who already know how to ski, but want to improve ability and learn to race faster.

The program will expand to 12 training days starting Monday, Dec. 28 and going through Sunday, Feb. 21, with make-up dates.

The program has added training dates, brought on several new coaches and added more time to training days. There will also be a two-day mini-camp over Christmas break.

Day training sessions will be from 9 a.m. to noon, with a short snack break during the session. Night training sessions will run from 6 to 8 p.m. The coaches will be available during Sundays Maine Ski Challenge to assist the athletes.

The following training dates are scheduled:

Monday, Dec. 28; Tuesday, Dec. 29; Sunday, Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31;
Friday, Feb. 5;
Sunday, Feb. 7;
Friday, Feb. 12; and Sunday, Feb. 14 and 21.

Make-up dates are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 28 and March 7.

The cost for the Junior Race Program is $150 for pass holders, which includes all training dates, and $200 for non-pass holders, which includes training and lift tickets

The cost for the mini-camp during Christmas break is $30 for pass holders and $50 for non-pass holders.
